Compliance

Compliance with the EMC directive for emissions is achieved by restricting use of the product to
off-grid applications.
o
Compliance with the requirement of IEC 62109-2 for remote fault indication is achieved with
installation of the MATE3s in the system.
o
Compliance with the requirement of IEC 62109-2 for identification of firmware version is achieved with
installation of the MATE3s in the system.
Firmware Updates
IMPORTANT:
All inverters will shut down during firmware updates. If loads need to be run while updating the
firmware, bypass the inverter with a maintenance bypass switch. Communication cables must
remain connected and DC power must remain on. Interrupted communication will cause the
update to fail and the inverter(s) may not work afterward. Inverters automatically update one at
a time beginning with the highest port. Each requires about 5 minutes.
Updates to the inverter's internal programming are periodically available at the OutBack Power
website www.outbackpower.com.
If multiple inverters are used in a system, all units must be upgraded at the same time. All units
must be upgraded to the same firmware revision.
IMPORTANT:
All stacked FXR inverters must have the same firmware revision. If multiple stacked inverters
are used with different firmware revisions, any inverter with a revision different from the master
will not function. (See the stacking section on page 34.) The system display will display the
following message:

Preventative Maintenance
The FXR inverter requires almost no regular maintenance. However, OutBack Power
recommends the following items on a periodic basis:

Check all electrical connections periodically for tightness using the torque values from pages 20
through 22.
o
For vented (VFXR) models, clean the air filter inside the DC cover every three months. (See page
24 to remove the cover.) Rinse the filter with warm tap water and allow it to fully air-dry before
reinstalling. Do not use any cleaning solutions.
o
Check the batteries according to the recommendations and schedule provided by the battery
manufacturer. Perform equalization as appropriate.
