    The L6Q Installation Guide contains all of the information required to set up, install, and begin capturing detections with the L6Q camera system. It is recommended to review this guide in its entirety before embarking on installation for the first time. The steps in the Pre-Installation and Hardware Installation sections are presented in the order that they should be performed.

    Charging Port Door Battery Tray Batteries The L6Q is designed to be physically secure and to blend in with its surroundings by customizing its shroud. The removable shroud comes in Black or White and can be painted to suit the location's surroundings.

    Ideal Site Qualities Some sites may require permits or approval for installation. Survey the install location to identify the power source and mounting location. Sites ideal for L6Q installation have the following qualities: • For solar panel deployment, a mounting pole or surface in unobstructed direct sunlight with south- facing orientation that will see the most hours of sunlight during the day.

To access the Status LED, open the Charging Port door with the Pin and Torx Tool.

    Agency Manager / Site Manager access to Vigilant VehicleManager / Vigilant ClientPortal is required to log in to the Mobile Companion app and set up the L6Q camera. If you do not have the proper account type, contact Vigilant Support.

    MN008660A01-AC Chapter 2 : Pre-Installation Procedure: 1 Open the Mobile Companion app on an Android or iOS device. 2 Tap the Serversite drop-down menu and select the desired LEARN or ClientPortal server. NOTE: Vigilant VehicleManager users normally leave LEARN-NVLS selected. 3 Enter your Vigilant VehicleManager or ClientPortal username and password.

    MN008660A01-AC Chapter 2 : Pre-Installation Viewing Camera Details in Mobile Companion Use the Cameras screen to view a list of cameras installed through the app, camera details, and camera management options. Paused installations for each camera can be resumed from the Camera Details screen.

    Switching to a new SIM does not require re-provisioning. Procedure: 1 Remove the L6Q Camera, Batteries, Battery Tray, USB Cable, and the Pin and Torx Tool from the box or Rapid Deployment Carry Case. Remove and discard any foam present between the battery slots in the battery tray.

    Figure 11: Battery Installation Charging the Battery During setup, the L6Q battery can be charged through any of the available camera power options. When the battery is charging, the LED Indicator inside the Charging Port door will blink red. When the battery is fully charged, the LED Indicator will turn solid green.
  • Page 27 2.7.2 Charging with the AC Adapter The AC adapter is an optional add-on for the L6Q Installation Kit and may not be included. Procedure: 1 Connect the M12 elbow connector from the AC adapter to the lower port on the back of the camera and screw down the connector sleeve to secure.
  • Page 28 Pairing Cameras to Mobile Companion L6Q cameras must first be paired to the Mobile Companion app in order to send detections to Vigilant VehicleManager, view camera information, and perform aiming. A QR code can be used to pair a L6Q camera, or the camera serial number can be manually entered.

    Packing for Travel When it's time to head out to the installation site, place all L6Q hardware and installation tools back into the box or into the optional add-on Quick Deployment Carry Case. The case is designed to carry the L6Q kit safely and securely, minimizing trips up and down ladders.
  • Page 36 The L6Q Hardware Installation process is different depending on which camera power solution has been selected for the installation site. Skip to the section appropriate for the power solution in use and complete the steps. Then, skip to the Camera Installation section to install the L6Q camera. Mobile Companion App Navigation While performing the installation, use the Mobile Companion app to follow along with each step.

    Chapter 3 : Hardware Installation 3.2.1 Assembling the Solar Panel It is recommended to travel with the packaged unit and perform assembly of the solar panel at the L6Q installation site. NOTE: Perform assembly on the ground before ascending a ladder with the unit.
  • Page 41 Mounting the Solar Panel The solar panel should be positioned vertically on a pole above the L6Q camera and be 12–14 feet off the ground, facing South. Use the carrying strap to keep your hands free when carrying the solar panel up the ladder.

    The camera can be mounted to a pole with two included metal band ties or to a flat surface with two included lag bolts. The L6Q kit also includes two reusable zip ties to temporarily hold the mounting bracket in place until the two metal band ties can be secured.
  • Page 46 MN008660A01-AC Chapter 3 : Hardware Installation 3.5.2 Powering On and Pairing the Camera If necessary, power on and re-pair the camera to the mobile phone before attaching the camera to the mounting bracket. Procedure: 1 Power on the camera by pressing and holding the power button for one second. If the camera is already on, press the power button once to activate the pairing process.

If necessary, connect the Angle Adapter first so that the antenna can be positioned vertically as shown.

Proper aiming ensures that license plates traveling through the camera’s field of view are at an ideal height and angle to generate an image that is as clear and readable as possible.

    3.6.3 Verifying Successful Capture with LEARN Mobile Prerequisites: Access to LEARN Mobile in the Mobile Companion application is required to verify that L6Q is capturing license plates properly. Procedure: 1 From the Mobile Companion home screen, tap LEARN Mobile. 2 Log on to LEARN Mobile by using the same username and password that was used to log on to Mobile Companion.
