Development backup roller
The development backup rollers are mounted opposite
to each of the three development rollers. Both ends of
each development backup roller are supported by
bearing brackets.
The set/release mechanism is the same as that of the
cleaning backup roller. When set, both ends of the
bracket bearing are pressed against the side plate of the
development unit by an angular plate spring.
An OPC cleaning pad is located beside the back-up
rollers. This keeps the back side of the OPC belt clean
so that light can pass through it and discharge the
photoconductive layer.
A stopper is provided on the inner side of the release
shaft to provide the same function as for the cleaning
backup roller.
OPC cleaning brush back-up roller
The backup roller is fastened to the side plate of the
OPC unit, together with the bearings, and positioned so
the OPC cleaning brush cuts into the backup roller by 2
mm when the OPC cleaning brush is operated.
The backup roller is positioned 8 mm from the center of
the OPC cleaning brush. This widens the contact area of
the cleaning brush and improves the efficiency of the
OPC filming removal.
