Vertical ruled lines are misaligned.
Is the print head misaligned? (in

bidirectional printing)
With bidirectional printing, the print head prints
while moving left and right. If the print head is
misaligned, ruled lines may be misaligned
accordingly. If vertical ruled lines are misaligned
with bidirectional printing, perform Print Head
Alignment.

The printed surface is scuffed or
soiled.
Is the media too thick or too thin?

Check the media specifications to determine
whether it can be used with the printer. If you are
using a software RIP, contact the manufacturer for
information on the settings and media that can be
used.
Is the media wrinkled or creased?

Do not use old media or media with creases in it.
Use new media.
Is the print head striking the printed
o
surface?
If the printable side of the media is rubbed while
printing, increase the gap using Platen Gap from
the Media Settings menu.

Widen the setting for the Top Margin in the Printer
Setup menu.

Is the bottom edge of the media getting
scratched?
Depending on the content of the print data, the
bottom edge of the printable surface may be
rubbed leaving scratches. In this situation, increase
the Drying Time per Page in the Media Settings
menu, increase the Margin Between Pages in the
Printer Setup menu, or add a bottom margin to the
print data in the RIP.

Does the interior of the printer need
cleaning?
The rollers may need cleaning. Clean the rollers by
feeding and ejecting paper.

Choose On for Width Detection in the menu.
Although under normal circumstances printing
stops if the print image is wider than the media, the
printer may print beyond the edges of the media
when Off is set for Width Detection in the General
Settings menu. Ink used outside the edges of the
media will stain the inside of the printer.
Changed settings are reflected when the media is
reloaded.

Is ink dry on the printed surface?
Depending on the printing density and media type,
the ink may take a while to dry. Do not stack the
media until the printed surface is dry.
