"COM Port Settings"– This button opens the "When" COM Port Settings window (see Figure
48) where communication settings for the COM port device can be entered. Selecting "OK" will
store the settings entered, and selecting "Cancel" will discard changes to the settings.
"Port Number"– This dropdown selects which COM port device to read. Only available
COM ports will be listed.
"Baud Rate"– This entry field specifies the baud rate in kbps to use when communicating
with the COM port device.
"Data Bits"– This entry field specifies the number of data bits contained in each message
frame received from the COM port device.
"Stop Bits"– This dropdown selects the number of stop bits used in each message frame
received from the COM port device.
"Parity"– This dropdown selects the type of parity (if any) used in each message frame
received from the COM port device.
"Flow Control"– This dropdown selects the type of flow control (if any) used in each
message frame received from the COM port device.
"Use Serial Trigger"– Selecting this checkbox will cause a serial trigger command to be
sent to the device before attempting to read data from the COM port. This is used for
scanners and other devices that will not send data unless they are triggered or queried. In
this case the read operation will occur as follows:
Send "On" Command  Read Data From Device  Send "Off Comand
