YOUR VIKING FIRE SUIT
This product is in conformity with the provisions of the
Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament
and of the Council. The suit complies with the EN
469:2005+A1:2006 standard on protective clothing for
firefighters and EN ISO 13688:2013 Protective clothing –
general requirements. The suit is designed to meet the
requirements placed on firefighters, where work involves
a risk of exposure to high heat and flames. In addition,
your suit is approved in accordance with EN 1149–5:2008
Electrostatic properties. The suit is certified by Centexbel,
Technologiepark no. 7, B-9052 Zwijnaarde, NB 0493,
Belgium.
To the best of VIKING's knowledge, the fire suits cause no
allergic reactions and are not carcinogenic, mutagenic or
toxic to reproduction. All layers and knit cuffs in the suit
have Oeko-Tex® Std 100 approval or equivalent health
marking for textiles.
NOTE THAT
Fire jackets and fire trousers must be worn together to
provide full protection of the upper and lower body,
including the neck, the arms down to the wrists and the legs
down to the ankles. Jackets and trousers must be closed,
and EN 469:2005+A1:2006 is only maintained when they
are worn together. Other parts of the body are not covered
by the suit and therefore require other protection.
If the fire suit is equipped with reflectors (retroreflective/
fluorescent material), the fire jacket and fire trousers must
also be worn at the same time to achieve the amount of
reflection required according to EN 469:2005+A1:2006.
Check that the fire trousers and fire jacket fit together,
i.e. that there is sufficient overlap to provide maximum
protection in all foreseeable positions. Quick test: Extend
both arms above your head and check that the jacket and
trousers overlap. Then bend forward and stretch down
towards the floor, and check again.
Check the suit for damage, visible faults or deficiencies such
as holes or tears before putting it on. If the suit is damaged,
return it to a VIKING authorised workshop for repair
(contact VIKING for address details). Unauthorised changes
to the suit can result in the protection no longer being
sufficient. This will invalidate the approval and VIKING's
product liability.
WARNING
Chemicals: The suit must not be used as a chemical suit. If
the suit is accidentally sprayed with chemicals or flammable
liquids, the firefighter must withdraw and take off the suit.
The suit must then not be used before it has been cleaned.
6
Electrostatic discharge: A person wearing electrostatic
discharge clothing must be properly grounded. The
resistance between the person and ground must be
less than 108 Ω, e.g. when wearing suitable footwear.
Electrostatic discharge protective clothing must not
be opened or taken off in the vicinity of flammable or
explosive atmospheres or when handling flammable or
explosive substances.
Electrostatic discharge protective clothing must not be
worn in oxygen enriched atmospheres without prior
approval from the responsible safety engineer. The
protective clothing's dissipative ability can be affected by
wear, washing and any contamination. During normal use
(including bending and movements) the suit must cover all
materials that are not covered by the electrostatic approval,
such as underwear, at all times.
WASHING
Remove all detachable parts, such as knee pads, snap hooks,
etc. before washing the suit. It is a good idea to turn up the
knit cuffs on the jacket sleeve and make sure that zippers,
Velcro, etc. are closed to prevent mechanical wear and tear
during washing.
Wash at 60°C, normal cycle
Do not bleach
Tumble dry at normal temperature
starting temp. max. 80°C
Iron at max. 150°C (avoid ironing reflectors)
Dry clean, mild cycle
Ensure that you do not overfill the machine – preferably
only use 65% of the capacity of the machine. Use common
detergents. Avoid bleach and special detergents with
high alkalinity intended for e.g. stain removal. VIKING
recommends low to medium alkalinity and a pH of < 10.5.
Any higher may impair the properties of reflectors in
particular.
