The sections are assembled using biconical nipples. To achieve
a good tightening of the assemblies, it is essential to use a special
compound which ensures a perfect seal (this compound is always
supplied with the boiler).
Proceed as follows: (fig. 6)
1.-
Clean the nipples with a solvent.
2.- Using a solvent, clean the machined bores for the connecting
nipples carefully. If necessary, use extra fine emery paper in
case of rust stains or small burrs.
3.- Put the rear section in vertical position and secure it by
propping it up.
4.- Position the 40mm-thick wooden block provided in front of
the rear section's legs (fig. 6).
5.- Clean the groove for the rope seal with a wire brush.
6.- Position the rope seal in the groove. Do that without
stretching it, with the junction point at the top (see figure
below) on the axis of the nipples line. Then cut the rope
carefully.
7.- NEVER USE OLD NIPPLES Coat the nipples and machined
bores with the compound provided.

8.- Placing the nipples in the vertical section's orifices and drive
them in slightly using a piece of wood on which to hit with a
hammer or a mallet so as to maintain the nipples in the bores.
Do not drive them in too much, so that the final tightening
shall be obtained by bringing the sections together using
the assembly bars. Check carefully that the nipples are
perfectly vertical, as a deviation during tightening could
break the section.
9.- After having cleaned the middle section and applied the
coating, bring it on the block to place it facing the vertical
rear section and respecting the orientation of the assembly
marking which must be always oriented towards the front
(see figure below). Drive it onto the two nipples using a mallet
or a piece of hard wood, hitting alternately, at the top and
bottom, facing the nipples to ensure temporary assembly of
the two sections.
10.- Ensure that they are perfectly vertical and tighten it as
explained in the following chapter "Tightening the Sections".
