CAUTION: In the case the burner motor is supplied with three-phase
power, control panel single phase supply must imperatively be taken
from one of the phases supplying the burner motor.
VERY IMPORTANT: Never connect the burner control box directly to
one of the phases.
Commissioning
System Filling
-
Water quality for the Heating Circuit
It is recommended that the properties of the water in the system
be as follows:
pH: 7.5 – 8.5
Hardness: 8 – 12 French degrees
** One French degree is equivalent to 1 gram of calcium
carbonate per 100 litres of water.
-
Filling the Heating Circuit and the Boiler
-
During the filling operation, which should be done slowly, ensure
that shut-off valves are open and, if necessary, the mixing valve
is open half way.
-
The cap in the automatic air vent, which is normally fitted on
the boiler's outlet, should be kept loose to assure permanent
purging during the filling operation.
-
Vent all high points in the heating circuit and gradually shut all
venting screws when the water reaches the desired level.
Preliminary checks
At the first boiler start-up or following a prolonged period of
non-use:
-
check that the level of water is satisfied and also general
leaktightness. If necessary, add water and vent all the high
points until a slight water flow is obtained.
-
check the stack/boiler joint for leaks.
-
check that the upper and lower vents are in perfect condition.
-
ensure that doors and cleanout covers close properly and
are air tight.
- check that fuel supply to the burner is correct and that the
flow and return valves are open.

Maintenance

Carry out maintenance operations in accordance with current
regulations which apply.

-
Following the first filling of the boiler, draw off an important
quantity of water (using the sludge valve) to remove any foreign
matter that may have penetrated the sections or pipes during
assembly.
-
If the boiler is located in an area with risk of freezing, some
antifreeze solution should be added to the water in relation to
the outside temperature.
-
Topping up with water
-
Top up with water only when the boiler is cold.
-
After topping up, there should be no need for further additions
of water; but if it were necessary to do so, additions should be
controlled and metered.
-
Frequent topping up is an indication of a leak and so it should
be repaired.
Check all safety devices for correct operation.
Note: Following the first lighting of a system, it is advisable
to clean the pump filter if oil is being used, or else the
supply filter if gas is being used.
After a few hours of operation, check the doors for
tightness. If it were necessary, re-tighten their locknuts.
CE Marked
The HF boilers are certified to comply with the
essential requirements of the Electromagnetic
Compatibility Directive 89/336/EEC, the Gas
Appliances Directive 90/396/EEC, and the Energy
Efficiency Directive 92/42/EEC Directive, and are
therefore permitted to carry the CE mark.
