OVERVIEW

The scale is used for weighing dry, liquid and granular products, measuring the environment temperature and displaying current time.

SAFETY MEASURES

Before using the unit, read this instruction manual carefully and keep it for future reference.

Use the unit for intended purposes only, as specified in this manual. Mishandling the unit can lead to its breakage and cause harm to the user or damage to his/ her property.

• Handle your scale with care, as it is a precision instrument, do not subject it to high or low temperatures, high humidity, never expose it to direct sunlight and do not drop the scale.
• Use the scale away from heating units.
• Do not use the scale outdoors.
• Avoid getting of liquid into the scale body, this appliance is not waterproof.
• Do not store or use the scale in a room with high humidity (above 80%), make sure that the scale does not come into contact with water or other liquids as this may cause failure of scale indication or its damage.
• Place the scale on a flat steady surface.
• Do not put food products on the weighing platform if their weight exceeds the maximal capacity of the scale.
• This unit is not intended for usage by children, place the unit away from children.
• The unit is not intended for usage by physically or mentally disabled persons (including children) or by persons lacking experience or knowledge if they are not under supervision of a person who is responsible for their safety or if they are not instructed by this person on the usage of the unit.
• Do not leave children unattended to prevent using the unit as a toy.
  Attention!
  The unit contains a lithium battery. Prevent children from swallow- ing the lithium battery. If the child swallowed a battery, take him/her to the hospital immediately.
• For children safety reasons do not leave polyethylene bags, used as packaging, unattended.
  Attention!
  Do not allow children to play with polyethylene bags or packaging film. Danger of suffocation!
• To avoid damages, transport the unit in the original package only.
• If you are not planning to use the scale for a long time, remove the battery from the battery compartment.
• Strictly follow the polarity according to the markings when installing the battery.
• Replace the batteries in time.
• Keep the unit out of reach of children and disabled persons.
• Do not attempt to repair the unit. Do not disassemble the unit by yourself, if any malfunction is detected or after it was dropped, remove the battery from the battery compartment and apply to any authorized service center at the contact addresses given in the warranty certificate and on the web- site www.vitek.ru.

USING THE SCALE

After unit transportation or storage at low temperature keep it for at least three hours at room temperature before switching on.

• Unpack the scale, remove any stickers that can prevent unit operation.
• Clean the weighing platform (1) and the scale body with a soft slightly damp cloth, and then wipe dry.

Battery installation

• Open the battery compartment lid (9) and insert a CR2032 battery (supplied with the unit), following the polarity.
• Install the battery compartment lid (9) back to its place.

Note: The unit can be supplied with the battery installed in the battery com- partment. In this case an isolation insert is inserted preventing discharge. If there is an isolation insert in the battery compartment, remove the battery compartment lid, remove the isolation insert and install battery compartment lid back to its place.

Battery replacement

• When the battery is low, the display (2, 3, 4) contrast reduces and the display (2) shows the symbol "Lo".
• If the scale was switched off because of low battery or the symbol "Lo" appeared on the display (2), replace the battery. For this open the battery compartment lid (9), replace the old battery with a new one, strictly following the polarity, then close the battery compartment lid.
• If you are not using the scale for a long time, remove the battery from the battery compartment.

Operating buttons

The operating buttons of the scale are touch-sensitive, so you only need to touch slightly the marked point for each button to activate it.

CURRENT TIME DISPLAYING

If there is a battery in the battery compartment, the current time indication is permanently shown on the display (3) regardless of whether the scale is switched on or not.

Time setup

1. Press and hold the «Time» button until the hour indications on the dis- play (3) start flashing.
   Notes:

• When you install or replace the battery, the time «АМ12:00» will be shown on the display (3) and the hours indications will start flashing.
• If you don't press any buttons within 10 seconds, the indications on the display (3) will be shown constantly.

2. Consequently press the button «Time» to set the desired hours. To enter the hours indications press the button « IT». After you enter the hours data, the minutes indications will start flashing.
   Note:

• This model uses 12 hour format of current time indication. When you set the desired time, pay attention to the symbols «АМ/PM» alternately appearing in the left part of the display (3). «АМ» indicates time before noon, «PM» – after noon.

3. Consequently press the button «Time» to set the desired minutes. To enter the minutes indications press the button « IT». Time setup is finished.

WEIGHING INGREDIENTS

Install the scale on a flat stable surface.

1. To switch the scale on, touch the button (7) « IT», first the symbols «HELLO» and then the symbol «0» will appear on the display.
   Notes:

• The symbol «0» shown on the display (2) indicates that you can start weighing.
• When you install or replace the battery, the weight measurement units «g» are used (by default).
• If the indications on the display (2) are not equal to zero, touch the «Tare» button (6), the indications will be set to zero. Select the required weight measurement units by consequently touching the button (5) «Unit», the following symbols will appear on the display (2):
  «g» – weight of food product(s) in grams;
  «lb» – weight of product(s) in pounds and ounces;
  «oz» – weight of food product(s) in ounces;
  «kg» – weight of product(s) in kilograms.
  Notes:
• To weight liquid and granular products, place an appropriate container on the platform (1) and then set the display indications to zero by touching the «Tare» button (6). The tare symbol «» will appear in the left part of the display (2) if the container weight is more than 500 g.

2. Put the ingredient(s) on the weighing platform (1). The weight of the ingredient(s) will be shown on the display (2), according to the selected measurement units.
3. To switch the scale off, remove the ingredients from the platform (1) and touch the « IT» button (7).
   Note:

• Symbols «EEEE» on the display (2) indicate exceeding of the scale maximal capacity of 5 kg, remove food products from the scale immediately to prevent its damage.
• The symbol «UnSt» on the display (3) indicates that the weight of the products on the scale is unstable or the scale is placed on an unsteady surface. Place the scale on a flat steady surface.
• The scale will be switched off automatically after 2 minutes of non-operation.

TARE FUNCTION

If you want to measure the weight of several ingredients without removing the previous ones from the platform (1), proceed as follows.

1. Place the scale on a flat surface.
2. To switch the scale on, touch the « IT» button (7), the symbol «0» will appear on the display.
   Notes:

• The symbol «0» shown on the display (2) indicates that you can start weighing. If the indications on the display (2) are not equal to zero, touch the «Tare» button (6), the indications will be set to zero.

3. Select the required weight measurement units by consequently touching the button (5) «Unit»: «g», «lb», «oz» or «kg».
4. Put the required quantity of the first ingredient on the platform (1), checking the numeral indication on the display (2).
5. Press the «Tare» button (6), the weight indication on the display (2) will be set to zero.
   Note:

• When weighing ingredients consequently, the tare symbol «» appears on the display (2) if the weight of ingredient(s) is more than 500 g.

6. Put the required amount of the second ingredient on the platform (1), checking the numeral indication on the display (2).
7. Repeat steps 4-6 for consequent weighing of the remaining ingredients.
8. Adding ingredients is available until the max. capacity (5 kg).
9. Remove all the ingredients from the platform, the display (2) will show the total weight of all ingredients.
10. To switch the scale off, touch the « IT» button (7).
    Notes:

• Symbols «EEEE» on the display (2) indicate exceeding of the scale maximal capacity of 5 kg, remove food products from the scale immediately to prevent its damage.
• The symbol «UnSt» on the display (3) indicates that the weight of the products on the scale is unstable or the scale is placed on an unsteady surface. Place the scale on a flat steady surface.
• In the successive weighing mode the scale will be switched off automatically after 2 minutes of non-operation.
• If the scale works improperly, try switching the power off; to do this, open the battery compartment lid (9) and remove the battery. After a while insert the battery to its place and switch the scale on by touching the « IT» button (7).

TEMPERATURE MEASURING

If there is a battery in the battery compartment, the temperature indication is permanently shown on the display (4) regardless of whether the scale is switched on or not.

Temperature measurement unit selection button

Room temperature is shown on the display (4) either in degree Celsius (°С) or in degree Fahrenheit (°F).
You can change the temperature measurement units only when the scale is switched on.
For this switch the scale on by touching the « IT» button and then touch and hold the « IT» button for more than 4 seconds.

Note:

• When you install or replace the battery, the temperature measurement units «°С» are used (by default).

CLEANING AND CARE

• Clean the scale with a soft, slightly damp cloth and then wipe it dry.
• Never use abrasives or solvents.
• Do not immerse the scale into water or any other liquids, do not wash it in a dishwashing machine.
• Keep the scale away from children in a dry cool place.

Electromagnetic compatibility
The electronic scale can be sensitive to electromagnetic emission of other units located in close proximity (such as mobile phones, portable radio transmitters, radio controllers and microwave ovens). If signs of such emission appear (false or inconsistent data indication on the display), relocate the scale or switch off the source of interference for some time.

* For household kitchen scales the extent of error is not specified, so it is not stated in technical specifications.
The term "extent of error" is used for industrial, analytical and medical scales. Such scales have pattern approval certificates which confirm the measure- ment accuracy. Moreover, specially appointed organizations perform annual "measurement accuracy confirmation" (calibration) to confirm the scales' accuracy.

A production date of the item is indicated in the serial number on the technical data plate. A serial number is an eleven-unit number, with the first four figures indicating the production date. For example, serial number 0606ххххххх means that the item was manufactured in June (the sixth month) 2006.
