PRIMARY BOOM COMPONENTS
6 Remove the external snap rings from the
extension cylinder rod-end pivot pin at the
platform end of the extension tube. Use a soft
metal drift to remove the pin.
7 Support and slide the extension cylinder out of
the base end of the extension tube. Place the
extension cylinder on blocks for support.
Crushing hazard. The extension
cylinder could become unbalanced
and fall when removed from
primary boom extension tube if not
properly supported.
During removal, the overhead
crane strap will need to be
carefully adjusted for proper
balancing.

Primary Boom Lift Cylinder
The primary boom lift cylinder raises and lowers the
primary boom. The primary boom lift cylinder is
equipped with a counterbalance valve to prevent
movement in the event of a hydraulic line failure.
How to Remove the Primary
Boom Lift Cylinder
1 Raise the primary boom until the primary boom
is horizontal.
2 Raise the secondary boom until the primary
boom lift cylinder barrel-end pivot pin is above
the turntable covers.
3 Attach a 5 ton / 5000 kg overhead crane to the
primary boom for support. Do not lift the boom.

Bodily injury hazard. This
procedure requires specific repair
skills, lifting equipment and a
suitable workshop. Attempting this
procedure without these skills and
tools could result in death or
serious injury and significant
component damage. Dealer
service is strongly recommended.
When removing a hose assembly
or fitting, the O-ring on the fitting
and/or hose end must be replaced
and then torqued to specification
during installation.
