Dragging and dropping
This term refers to the action of moving an icon or window to another location
in the desktop and then releasing the trackball button so that the moved object
remains in its new location.
GPIB
General Purpose Interface Bus is a standard interface for communications
between instruments and controllers from various vendors.
Hard Reset
A hard reset causes the rtVAX host controller to reboot, causes the rtVAX 300
board to become reset, and restarts the VAXeln operating system. Because a
hard reset causes the rtVAX 300 board to reset and perform a series of hard-
ware self-tests, it takes about three minutes to perform. Hard and soft resets
may be selected from the ADE SYSTEM CONTROLLER(CSA) Commands menu.
HCA
An optional networking software that allows you to use a remote computer to
run ADE wafer characterization systems.
Home directory
A home directory icon, labelled with your login account name, appears in the
upper left corner of the desktop workspace. When it is opened, it displays all
of the directories and files which are contained in your account.
Icon
An icon is a pictorial representation of a file or program stored on the computer's
hard disk drive.
Login screen
The login screen is a box which appears when the ASC 2000 is first powered
on. It requests your account name and password in order to gain access to
the desktop.
Maximize
When you want to expand an application's icon (which is currently running),
you place the trackball pointer on it and double-click. This is done after a
window has been minimized.
Minimize
To iconify an application which is currently running, place the trackball pointer
on the button pointing downward at the far right of the window title bar and
click once. Immediately, the window will appear as an icon in the desktop
workspace, although the application will continue to execute.
