Charge area:
Shows that energy is being
recovered via the regenera-
tive braking system. (P. 49)
EV driving area:
Shows that the vehicle is
being powered only by elec-
tric motor
(traction motor).
Power area:
Shows that the gasoline
engine is used as auxiliary
power (during full power driv-
ing etc.).

: If the gasoline engine is operated (for example when driving at high
speeds or using the heater), the EV indicator may turn off even if the bar
is in the EV driving area. (P. 57)

: If the accelerator pedal is depressed to a certain position while the vehi-
cle is in EV City mode, motor output will be maintained at a constant
level. In this case, the indicator bar remains at a constant level in the EV
driving area.
After this happens, when the accelerator pedal is depressed completely,
the gasoline engine starts and the indicator bar shifts to the power area.
