The Cisco 2600 series enables businesses to extend a cost-effective, seamless
network infrastructure to the branch office with the following benefits:
• Investment protection—Because the 2600 series supports field-upgradable
modular components, customers can easily change network interfaces
without upgrading the entire branch office network solution.
Lower cost of ownership—By integrating the functions of channel service

unit/data service units (CSU/DSUs), ISDN Network Termination (NT1)
devices, firewalls, modems, compression or encryption devices, and other
equipment found in branch office wiring closets in a single, compact unit, the
Cisco 2600 series provides a space-saving solution that can be managed
remotely, using network management applications such as CiscoWorks2000.
Multiservice voice/data integration—The Cisco 2600 series enables network

managers to reduce long-distance interoffice calling costs and enables
next-generation applications such as integrated messaging and web-based
call centers. Using voice/fax modules, the Cisco 2600 series may be deployed
in both Voice over IP (VoIP) and Voice over Frame Relay (VoFR) networks.
When used with a packet voice trunk module, a single Cisco 2600 series
router can support simultaneous processing of 60 voice calls, as well as
routing and other services.
• Enterprise/Provider class solution—Meets the requirements of multiservice
enterprises and their managed service CPE providers with high-reliability
features, multiple WAN connections, and the ability to migrate from data-
only, to time-division multiplexing (TDM) voice and data, to packetized
voice and data infrastructure.

The Cisco Voice Gateway 200 (VG200) enables you to connect Cisco IP
telephony solution products such as Cisco IP phones to the Public Switched
Telephone Network (PSTN) or to a private branch exchange (PBX). Analog
telephones or fax machines can also be connected.
