DISCONNECT THE LATHE FROM
THE MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE
CONTINUING!
1. Check the tension of the belt and adjust. If you find
the spindle is slipping or has stopped rotating check the
drive belt is under tension.

2. Also check the condition of the belt for signs of
fraying and extreme wear. To replace the belt first
loosen the hex bolt holding the motor plate and raise
the motor to remove the tension, see fig 17. Remove
the three screws holding the upper pulley access plate,
place safely aside, see fig 19.

3. Check any build up of wood shaving on the motor and spindle pulleys and clean if necessary.
4. If the tailstock has been used for drilling through the centre of workpieces, clean out the debri for
the entre of the spindle.
5. Lubricate the spring levers and other threaded parts.
Loosen the hex bolt holding the motor plate, press
down the motor assembly and re-tighten the bolt, see
fig 17-18.
Drive belt
Remove the damaged belt, insert the new 'V' belt down
into upper/lower pulley grooves, see fig 18-20.
Press down the motor to retention the belt and
tighten the Hex bolt to secure in place. Replace the side
access plate.
