To back up the intake operation of a garden pump, it is helpful to fill the suction hose with water. To that effect,
a so-called non-return valve must exist at the extremity of the suction hose.
• If no air is in the hose system any more, opening the water tap on the pressure side causes the pressure to drop.
The pressure switch activates the garden pump automatically (see above for dry run), as long as the water tap
is open.
• Once the water tap is shut, the pressure increases in the hose causing the pressure switch to switch the garden
pump off after a few seconds.

9. Placing out of operation

If the pressure switch must be disconnected from the hose (for ex. for cleaning, maintenance or for storage in winter),
then proceed as follows:
• Disconnect the pressure switch from the power supply, pull the mains plug from the mains socket.
• Disconnect the mains plug of the connected garden pump from the power outlet of the pressure switch.
• Open the water tap on the pressure side in order to let the water pressure escape.
• Slowly remove the hose from the pressure switch and then the latter from the garden pump. If necessary, have
available a sufficiently big intercepting tank for the remaining water.
• In winter, store the pressure switch (as well as the garden pump) in a dry place that is protected against frost.
Think of emptying the hoses installed outdoor in order to avoid frost damages; open possibly mounted water taps.

10. Maintenance and Cleaning

There are no serviceable parts in the pressure switch, this is why you should never open or dismantle
it. Any maintenance or repair and the ensuing opening of the pressure switch may only be carried out
by an expert or a specialist workshop.
Before carrying out any cleaning, the pressure switch must be separated from the mains voltage; pull
the mains plug from the mains socket. Disconnect the mains plug of the garden pump from the power
outlet of the pressure switch.
To clean the outside of the pressure switch, a dry, soft and clean cloth is sufficient. For stronger contamination, use
a cloth which is slightly moistened with lukewarm tap water.
Do not use any aggressive detergent as this might cause discoloration.
Make sure that the mains plug does not get damp or wet; danger of a lethal electric shock!
