Interconnects to RTM
AMC Bay B1 has eight generic interconnects to the RTM Zone 3 (channels 13 to 20), B2 has
four interconnects (channels 17 to 20). The second SATA/FC port of each AMC Bay (channel
3) is also connected to the RTM.
For further details, please refer to section 3.1.7., RTM Interface.
AMC GbE Support Channels
The first GbE port of each AMC Bay (channel 0) is connected to the base switch, the second
one (channel 1) of AMC Bay 1 is also connected to the neighbouring Hub Board via Zone 2
Update Channel.
See also section 3.1.2.
AMC SATA/FC Channels
The first SATA port (channel 2) connects both AMC Bays together. A possible application is a
PrAMC in one Bay and a storage AMC in the other. The second SATA port (channel 3) of each
AMC Bay is connected to the RTM.
AMC 10GbE Support Channels
Depending on the fabric mezzanine option, each AMC Bay has zero or two 10GbE/XAUI con-
nections to the fabric mezzanine interface (channels 4 to 11), see also chapters 3.2.1 and 3.3.
Example Configurations
• PrAMC and storage AMC
The preferred PrAMC (e.g. Kontron AM4002) slot is B1, the storage AMC (e.g. Kontron
AM4500 SATA AMC) should be placed in B2. This ensures optimal airflow and cooling
as well as the possibility to make use of the GbE support channel feature connecting the
PrAMC to the base switch of the neighbouring AT8902.
• Master Clock Generator (MCG) AMC
A MCG AMC providing backplane clocks CLK1A/B and CLK2A/B can be placed in any
of the two AMC slots. However, in combination with a PrAMC, the preferred slot is B2.
Connection
