There are a variety of rack units on the market, which may mean the assembly procedure will differ slightly.

Each set consists of an inner rail that is fixed directly to the chassis, a middle rail, and an outer rail that attaches to the rack.

    SuperStorageSystem SSG-5019D8-TR12P User's Manual 3.4 Chassis Components Hard Drives The chassis can contain twelve 3.5" internal hard disk drives. Each HDD position in the chassis is labeled with a number that corresponds to the SAS/SATA ports on the motherboard. The drives rest on metal brackets that run the full width of the chassis. They attach to the system by means of four small, horizontal backplanes, which include a socket into which each HDD is inserted.

    JF1 contains header pins for various buttons and indicators that are normally located on a control panel at the front of the chassis. These connectors are designed specifically for use with Supermicro chassis. See the figure below for the descriptions of the front control panel buttons and LED indicators.

This button can also be configured to function as a suspend button (with a setting in the BIOS - see Chapter 6). Each cluster is connected to a subset of the memory controller. Enabling SNC improves average latency and reduces memory access conges- tion to achieve higher performance.
