4.7 Road Mode

When it is necessary to operate the machine on public roads, you must utilize the
machine in road mode (see notes below).
To implement road mode:
1.
Install the side shields with included hardware onto the sides of the cab
enclosure from the inside.
2.
Raise the lift arms upward approximately 1/3 of possible travel.
3.
Have an assistant install the lift arm supports over and onto the cylinder
rods and secure with pins, then stand clear.
4.
Lower the lift arms (gently) until they rest on the supports.
5.
Curl the bucket fully and have an assistant install the quick attach lock bolts
(items 5, 6) on both sides of the machine to immobilize it for on road
travel. (fig. 4.7-2)
6.
Install the cutting edge guard onto the bucket and secure.
7.
Press the "road mode" switch (item 4) on the dash panel to disable
unnecessary items and enable road mode only controls for on road
operation.
8.
Utilize the drive control to direct machine movement and any relevant road
mode controls (items 1-3) to operate the machine in accordance with local
regulations and mandates. (fig. 4.7-1)
9.
To disengage road mode, reverse steps 1-7 of this procedure.
Note: Steps 1, 5 apply only to machines sold and operated in Italy.
Note: Road mode is not intended for performing work, do not carry loads while
operating in road mode. Lift arm and bucket functions are disabled whenever
road mode is engaged, curl bucket to upper limit prior to engaging road mode.
