4 Cutting Wheels

► Last cut always from the top (approx. 15 % of
the pipe circumference)

Sequence of cuts (1 to 4) is important:
► First, cut hard-to-reach areas

► Always make severing cuts so that the abra‐
sive wheel is not pinched
► Use wedges and/or leave ridges that are bro‐
ken after cutting

► If the severed part remains in the recess after
cutting (due to wedges, ridges used), do not
make any further cuts – break the severed part

Cutting Wheels
Abrasive wheels are exposed to extremely high
loads especially during freehand cutting.
Therefore only for use of approved and corre‐
spondingly labeled abrasive wheels with hand-
held machines as per EN 13236 (diamond) or
EN 12413 (composite resin). Note maximum per‐
missible speed of the abrasive wheel – risk of
accident!
The abrasive wheels, which have been devel‐
oped by STIHL in cooperation with renowned
manufacturers of abrasive wheels, are of high
quality and tailored precisely to the respective
intended use as well as the engine performance
of the cut-off machine.
They are of consistently outstanding quality.
4.1
Transport and storage
– Do not expose abrasive wheels to direct sun‐
shine or other thermal stresses during trans‐
port and storage
– Avoid jolting and impacts
– Stack abrasive wheels flat on a level surface
in the original packaging in a dry place where
the temperature is as constant as possible
– Do not store abrasive wheels in the vicinity of
aggressive fluids
– Store abrasive wheels in a frost-free place
