As it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between metals in soil and in salt
water, we recommend that you carry certain metal samples, such as iron
nails or coins, for comparison. Place the appropriate sample on the ground
and move the coil over it, noting the DISC position at which the metal is
excluded. This way you can better judge whether the object found is a
desired metal.
4. To move the coil correctly: Move the coil at a constant speed. Move the
coil parallel about 1.5 cm above the ground and avoid swinging the coil like
a pendulum.
Incorrect
Most valuable metal objects send the same signal repeatedly. If the signal
cannot be repeated, it is usually wrong. You can also move the coil quickly
over the target to get a more stable signal. When a clear signal is heard,
use the DISC mode to determine the metal type. Note: the display is
always for reference only, you must decide for yourself whether or not to
dig up a target object.
Important notes on operation
To prevent accidents, do not wear the headphones in places with heavy
traffic.
Always get permission before searching a site.
Stay away from places where there are electrical wires or pipes.
Do not search military sites where bombs or explosives may be buried.
Carefully dig out the objects and then close the hole again. Be careful not
to damage the vegetation.
