8. Control functions

8.1 Dry-running protection

Dry-running protection automatically stops the pump
in case of dry running to prevent damage to the
pump.
To build up pressure, the motor will run at maximum
speed. When the motor runs at maximum speed, the
power consumption will be measured and compared
to the expected values for power consumption when
the pump is filled with water. In case the measured
value is below the expected value, the pump will stop
with dry-running alarm.
1. The pump stops due to dry-running alarm.
2. The pump will restart 5 times every 10 seconds. If
the measured power consumption is still below
the expected value, the pump will stop.
3. After 5 minutes, the pump will try to restart again.
4. When water returns, you can either reset the
pump manually or wait for the pump to
automatically restart after 5 minutes.

8.2 Pressure switch

Some models of the pump is fitted with an adjustable
pressure switch as dry-running protection. The
pressure switch is fitted to the inlet manifold.
If the inlet pressure is below the lower
switching point, the system cannot start.
If the pressure switch has stopped the sys-
tem during operation due to the inlet pres-
sure being too low, the inlet pressure must
increase to a pressure that is higher than
the setting of the upper switching point be-
fore the system can restart.
If necessary, adjust the lower switching point by
turning screw A and adjust the upper switching point
to a value higher than the lower switching point by
turning screw B. See fig. Adjustment of switching
points.
Do not set the lower switching point to a
value below the minimum inlet pressure.
