Clutch

The clutch is a dry single-plate clutch with elastic hub and diaphragm
spring; its disengagement is controlled by a self-adjusting hydraulic
thrust bearing.
Adjustment
The clutch is the type with a constant contact thrust bearing; when the
plate is worn, the pressure plate moves back.
Since the control is hydraulic, no adjustment of the pedal position is
necessary.
A reduction in pedal travel for disengagement, for the vehicles
equipped with a mechanical gearbox, indicates the plate has reached an
advanced state of wear.
While driving, you are advised to place your foot on the clutch pedal
4
only when you are actually shifting gears.

Gearbox and differential

The longitudinally-positioned gearbox, has six synchronised gears plus
reverse gear.
The gears feature quick engagement, with reduced stroke.
The synchronisers are of the double and triple cone type.
The gearbox is controlled by an "F1" type hydraulic actuator.
The gearbox housing also contains the bevel gear pair and the self-
locking blade differential.
Gearbox and differential lubrication
The internal lubrication of the gearbox, shared by the differential, is
controlled by a pump driven by the main shaft.
It is recommended that you only use the lubricants specified by F
Cooling circuit
A valve with a calibrated spring, located inside the gearbox oil pump,
allows the oil to flow through a radiator when the temperature reaches
85÷90 °C.
The radiator is positioned behind the rear axle and is supplied by a
NACA type duct with a double air inlet. This is located on the vehicle
underfloor, on the sides of the gearbox.
Visually inspecting and replacing gearbox-differential oil
The gearbox/differential oil must be checked visually and changed
at the intervals indicated in the "Maintenance Schedule" at an
Authorised Ferrari Centre.
