Cross cutting
Sawing is performed across wood fibers. When working on an incline, make sure you are in a stable position and
stand on the higher side of the slope with respect to the trunk. It is desirable that the trunk lay on supports, and the
sawn end was not on the ground. Make sure that the chain does not crash into the ground, as this will cause quick
chain wear.
With transverse sawing, the toothed stop 1 (Pic. 19) should be installed on the sawn log.
1. In the case when the trunk is on supports along the entire length, drive the chain saw from top to bottom
and at the same time make sure that the chain does not cut into the ground (Pic. 20).
2. In the case where the trunk rests on the support at one end, first cut from the bottom to 1/3 of the trunk
diameter to avoid splitting. Then finish the cut from above so that it coincides with the first cut, avoiding
jamming (Pic. 21).
3. In the case when the trunk is on supports from two ends, first cut from the top 1/3 of the trunk diameter to
avoid splitting. After that, finish the bottom cut so that it coincides with the first cut, avoiding jamming. (Pic. 22).
For cutting into pieces, the trunk is best propped up with goats. If this is not possible, the trunk should be
raised and laid on the logs. Make sure the barrel is firmly fixed.
For personal safety and ease of sawing, maintain proper posture. (Pic. 23):
1. Hold the saw firmly with both hands to the right of the body.
2. Keep your left hand as straight as possible.
3. Maintain balance by resting on both legs.
