ATTENTION!
When felling a tree growing on a slope, the operator should stand higher on the slope, since
the sawn tree may slide down.
NOTE: The direction of fall is determined by the file. Before starting the cuts, evaluate the distribution of large
branches, the center of gravity of the crown and the natural slope of the tree to determine the direction of the
tree's fall.
ATTENTION!
Tree felling is not allowed in the presence of strong or variable winds and in case of risk of
property damage. No tree felling is allowed if there is a risk of damage to the wires. Check
with community services and specialists.
Tree felling
Typically, a tree felling consists of two main operations: file (C) and the final cut (D). Start the file (C) on the side
of the tree that is in the intended direction of fall (E). Make sure that the undercut does not go too deep into
the trunk. The file (C) should be made so that a sufficiently thick and strong part of the barrel (F) remains uncut.
The file should be wide enough to fully guide the fall of the tree when felling.
Attention! Do not walk in front of a tree that has already been cut. The final cut (D) is performed on the back of
the tree 3-5 cm above the horizontal base of the file (C) (Pic. 15).
Never cut the trunk to the end. Always leave uncut a thick enough and strong part of the trunk (F). This cut
piece prevents the tree from falling prematurely and guides it when it falls. If you cut the trunk to the end,
you will lose control over the direction of the fall. Slice a wedge or lever before the tree becomes unstable and
begins to move. Thus, you will prevent the guide bar from jamming in the cut if you incorrectly determined the
direction of the fall. Before you tumble down a tree, make sure that no one is in the area where the tree falls.
ATTENTION!
Before performing the final cut, always check to see if there are unauthorized people,
animals, or objects in the work area.
Final cut
Use wood or plastic wedges (A) to prevent the guide bar and chain from seizing (B) in the cut. The wedges also
control the felling (Pic. 16).
