Connecting the Devices

Danger of serious injury from electric shock!
There is a risk of electrocution, if liquids are spilled over the electrical connections of the Cart.
Electrical devices and connections must be securely protected against water!
Objects from which liquids can leak must not be placed above the electrical devices.
Three cable connections are available on the maXium
connected to the corresponding cold-device plug IEC C14 of the electrosurgery device. The
pull out-lock (6, Fig. 4-2) on the multiple socket ensures that, in conformity to the
standard:
— the supply cables can be removed only by use of a tool from the maXium
— each supply cable feeds only one specific device that is considered in the assessment
of total leakage current.
Use the central equipotential bonding socket (7, Fig. 4-2), in conjunction with a
equipotential bonding cable, to connect the maXium
equipotential bonding system of the operating room.
Use the three equipotential bonding connections (7, Fig. 4-2) to connect the respective
electrosurgery device to the cart using its equipotential bonding pin.
The equipotential bonding conductor must not be used as a PE conductor.
Equipotential bonding, aka potential equalization, is the conductive electrical connection of
the casings of units to each other and the ground. Equipotential bonding ensures that the
electrosurgery devices will always, even in case of an electric defect, have the same potential.
Equipotential bonding is mandatory for certain operating rooms, e.g. those for intracardiac
interventions. Equipotential bonding can be established using the equipotential bonding
connection. The required equipotential bonding cable (REF 80-260-50-04) is not included in
the scope of delivery of the maXium
required.
For the functional principle and use of the equipotential bonding conductor, see also the
requirements according to DIN EN 60601-1.
