Job Accounting Feature

This section describes Job Accounting, how to specify the ID and password for Job Accounting,
and how to print with Job Accounting.

Job Accounting Overview

When printing a document, Job Accounting enables you to sum print totals for each department
or user for management purposes, under an ID and a password assigned to each department
or user.
A document will be printed only if the specified ID and password are verified as valid.
IMPORTANT
• If you are using a shared printer in the Print Server (Point and Print) environment, it is necessary to
install the Canon Driver Information Assist Service in the server PC in order to use the Job Accounting
feature (see "Installing the Canon Driver Information Assist Service," on p. 2-29).
• If you are using a local printer (connected to an LPT port, USB port, etc.), you cannot use the Job
Accounting feature.
• For the iR C2570, iR 2570C, iR C3170, iR 3170C, iR C5870, iR 5870C, iR C6870, and iR 6870C, while
using Job Accounting, you can print grayscale documents without imposing Job Accounting by selecting
the following:
- [ON] for <Allow Black Printer Jobs> on the printer control panel.
- [Do Not Use Job Accounting when B&W Printing] in the [Configuration] sheet (Windows 98/Me) or
[Device Settings] sheet (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003) of the printer driver.
- [Black and White] for the [Color Mode] in the [Quality] sheet of the printer driver.
