8.2 MECHANICAL

SYMPTOM
Excessive Noises.
Excessive Vibration Or Noise
In Header.
Excessive Heat In Cutterbar.
Frequent Blade Damage.
Excessive Wear Of Cutting
Components.
Breakage Of Conditioner
Drive Belt.

TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
Bent cutter blade.
Conditioner roll timing off.
Conditioner roll gap too small.
Mud deposits on conditioner
rolls.
Conditioner rolls contacting each
other.
Too much oil in cutterbar.
Mud on cutterbar.
Spindle bearing failure.
Material wrapped around
spindle.
Cutting too low in rocky field
conditions.
Header float set too heavy.
Ground speed too high in rocky
field conditions. Note-high
ground speed tends to dig rocks
from ground instead of floating
over them.
Blade incorrectly mounted.
Header angle too steep.
Crop residue and dirt deposits
on cutterbar.
Mud on cutterbar.
Improper belt tension.
Belt not in proper groove in
pulley.

SOLUTION
Replace blade.
Check roll timing and adjust if
necessary.
Check gap and adjust if
necessary.
Clean rolls.
Increase roll gap.
Check roll timing.
Drain oil and refill with
specified amount.
Remove mud from cutterbar.
Do not allow mud to dry on
cutterbar.
Replace spindle bearing.
Remove disc and remove
material.
Decrease header angle.
Increase flotation.
Increase flotation.
Reduce ground speed
Check all blade mounting
hardware ensure blades are
free to move.
Reduce header angle.
Clean cutterbar.
Remove mud from cutterbar.
Do not allow mud to dry on
cutterbar.
Adjust conditioner drive belt
tension.
Move belt to proper groove.
