Pressing the Shutter Button

The shutter button features a two-stage action.
Indicator
AF Frame
• If the orange or yellow indicator flashes while you press halfway, you can still press
fully to take the shot.
• Images are first saved into the camera's internal memory before being recorded
onto the CF card, allowing the next images to be taken immediately as long as
sufficient space is available in the internal memory.
• The beep and shutter sound can be set On / Off in the Set up menu (p. 118).
• When the shutter sound is set to Off, but the beep is set to On, one beep will
sound when the shutter button is fully pressed.
• There is no shutter sound in movie mode.

Basic Functions
Pressing Halfway
Pressing halfway automatically sets the exposure,
focus and white balance.
• The indicators shine or flash as follows.
- Green: Metering complete (two beeps sound)
- Orange: Flash will fire
- Flashing Orange: Camera shake warning/
Insufficient exposure
- Yellow: Macro mode/Manual focus mode
- Flashing Yellow: Focusing difficulty (single
beep sounds)
*Use the focus lock or focus manually to shoot
when the indicator flashes yellow (p. 80).
• The AF frame appears as follows when the LCD
monitor is on.
- Green: Metering complete
- Yellow: Focusing difficulty
Pressing Fully
Pressing fully releases the shutter.
• You will hear the shutter sound when the shot
is complete. Do not move the camera until you
hear this sound. The upper indicator will flash
green while the image is recording onto the CF
card.
