WARNING
Batteries contain highly corrosive chemicals. Always wear proper protecting equipment
when working with batteries.
• Full face shield
• Goggles
• Long sleeve shirt
• Long rubber gloves
• Acid resistant apron
Observe all safety procedures as mandated by the facility where the vehicle is operated.

Cleaning

WARNING
1) Refer to battery warnings at the start of this chapter.
2) Place the Direction Control switch in the center "OFF" position (neutral).
3) Turn the Start switch OFF.
4) Confirm park brake is applied.
5) Place blocks under the front or rear wheels to prevent vehicle movement.
6) Disconnect the battery.
7. Dry dirt can be readily blown off with low-pressure air or brushed off.
8. Wetness or wet dirt on the battery indicates battery acid. Using a nonmetallic brush with
flexible bristles, wash the battery off with a strong solution of baking soda and hot water (one
pound of soda to a gallon of water). Continue until all fizzing stops, which indicates that the
acid has been neutralized. Then rinse thoroughly with clear water. DO NOT get any of the
solution into the battery cells.
9. Remove the blocks from the wheels and test drive.
