3.7. VE.Direct port

The VE.Direct port is used to communicate with the solar charger. It can be used for several purposes:
• To connect to a monitoring device, such as a GX device or the GlobalLink.
• To connect with the VictronConnect App.
• For external control.
• To program the load output behaviour.
Special cables or interfaces are needed to connect to this port:
VE.Direct cable
- used to connect to a GX device or the GlobalLink.
VE.Direct to USB interface
- used to connect via USB to the VictronConnect App.
VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle
VE.Direct TX digital output cable
VE.Direct non inverting remote on/off cable

3.8. Load output

The DC loads in the system can be connected to the load output. The load output is controlled by the solar charger and will
disconnect the loads in case of a low battery voltage. This will prevent a too deeply discharged battery. The disconnect voltage of
the load output and the battery management algorithm can be selected.
The load output is short circuit proof. The current rating is 15A or 20A, depending on the MPPT model.
Note that the load output of the MPPT 100/20, when used in a 36 or 48V system, is only rated at 1A.
Some loads (especially inverters) have a higher current rating or start-up current rating. The current is higher than the load output
can support. These loads should be connected directly to the battery. It is possible to control these loads by the solar charger so
that a deep battery discharge is prevented. This can be done by connecting the load remote on/off terminals to the solar charger
load output. Depending on the type of load, a special interface cable might be needed like an

Alternatively a
BatteryProtect
can be used to control the load.
