Remove the inspection cover. Remove and discard

Remove the four 1/4 in. capscrews from the O.D.E.

Remove the bearing cover and O-ring. Discard the

O-ring.
Bend back the lock washer tabs and remove the

bearing locknut; use 'C' spanner SKF REF HN5 or
equivalent.
Remove the lock washer.

Remove the four 1/4 in. capscrews from the drive

end bearing cover.
Remove the drive end bearing cover complete with

lip seal.
Remove the O-ring and discard.

Carefully pull the shaft from the housing, complete
15.
with drive end bearing.
Remove
the
connecting

assembly and inspect the bushings.
Use a bearing puller to remove the bearing from
17.
the shaft.
Installation
On a new shaft, with a zero lead ground lip seal
1.
surface, no speed-sleeve is required. On an old
shaft, when surface condition dictates, or on a new
shaft with a turned surface, install a speed-sleeve
0.06-0.12 in. (1.52-3.0 mm) past the outside drive
end shoulder. Refer to
Carefully slide the opposite drive end of the shaft
2.
and bearing assembly into the drive end of the
housing through the con-rod bushing and engage
the shaft end in the ODE bearing.
Fit the lock washer, engaging locating tab in the
3.
shaft groove.
Fit the bearing locknut and tighten with 'C' spanner;
4.
bend lock washer tab into groove.
install the appropriate total thickness of shims to
5.
leave 0.007 in. to 0.010 in. (.177-.254mm)
clearance between the ODE bearing and installed
cover.
Fit the ODE bearing cover and new O-ring; secure
6.
with four 1/4 in. capscrews. Tighten to 10 ft-lbs
(13.5 Nm).
Fit the drive end bearing cover complete with lip
7.
seal and new O-ring. Secure with four 1/4 in.
capscrews. Tighten to 10 ft-lbs (13.5 Nm).
If the actuator shaft has been disassembled from
8.
connecting rod, assemble with the bushing fulcrum
pin and snap rings before continuing.

Secure the pedestal with the top flat relief properly

Fill the bearing housing with 10W-30 oil. Fill so

Crankshaft Lip Seal Removal and
Installation
Remove the 1/2 in NPT drain plug from the bearing

housing. Drain and discard oil.
Remove the four 1/4 in. capscrews from the drive

end bearing cover.
Remove the drive end bearing cover complete with
3.
lip seal.
Remove and discard the O-ring.
4.
Pull the lip seal from the cover and discard.
5.
Clean and lubricate the lip seal cavity. Press in the
6.
lip seal fully against the shoulder (lip nearest the
bearing).
Inspect the speed-sleeve; replace if required.
7.
Lubricate the shaft sealing surface.
8.
Fit the new O-ring on the bearing cover and slide
9.
the assembly over the shaft. Align the screw holes.
Secure the cover to the bearing housing with four
10.
1/4 in. capscrews. Tighten to 10 ft-lbs (13.5 Nm).
Fill the bearing housing with 10W-30 oil to where
11.
the static oil level is below the center of the sight
glass. Do not overfill.
