• When not filling the batteries, keep the battery
vent caps tight on the batteries. Never operate
the vehicle if any of the vent caps are missing
or damaged.
• When removing or installing the batteries, do
not allow the battery terminals to touch any
metal parts of the vehicle.
• Do not allow metal tools to short between
the battery terminals and metal parts of the
vehicle. Remove all jewelry and watches before
servicing the batteries.
• Do not check a battery charge by placing a
metal object across the posts. This will cause
sparks which can cause an explosion.
• Always keep the battery retainers in place to
protect and secure the batteries.
• Read and understand the charging instructions
before charging the batteries; refer to Charging
the Batteries in Maintenance, page 22. Also,
take the following precautions and actions
when charging the batteries:
– Turn the vehicle On/Off switch to Off
before connecting the charger to a power
source.
– Use only the battery charger supplied with
the vehicle to charge the batteries.
– Do not charge a damaged or frozen battery.
– Always unplug the AC power cord from the
power outlet before unplugging it from the
vehicle charging receptacle to avoid sparks.
– If during charging a battery gets hot, begins
emitting large amounts of gasses, or spews
electrolyte, immediately disconnect the
charger power cord from the power outlet.
Have the vehicle serviced by an Authorized
