A 7.2.4 ch surround system connects the left and right front speakers (L/R), the center speaker (C), the left and
right top forward speakers (TFwL/TFwR), the left and right top backward speakers (TBwL/TBwR), the left and
right surround speakers (SL/SR), the left and right surround back speakers (SBL/SBR), and the subwoofers (SW 1/
SW 2).
Front is output from the PRE OUT EXTRA 2 terminals of the receiver. Connect the EXTRA 2 terminal to the exter-
nal amplifier, and connect the external amplifier to the front speaker.
It is necessary to connect to any one of the top forward, top backward, or surround back speakers to play Dolby
Atmos.

quality surround)

Bi-amping connection of the front speakers for high sound quality with 5.2-channel surround sound.
Top middle is output from the PRE OUT EXTRA 2 terminals of the receiver. Connect the EXTRA 2 terminal to the
external amplifier, and connect the external amplifier to the top middle speaker.
Playback of Dolby Atmos requires a connection with surround back speakers or top middle speakers.

With these connections you can simultaneously enjoy 7.2-channel surround sound in the main zone with stereo
playback of the same sound on the B speakers. The same connections also allow for 7.2.2-channel surround
sound in the main zone when not using the B speakers.
The speakers from which sound is output can be switched using the OUT P. button. For details, see
the speaker terminals on page 93 .
It is necessary to connect to the surround back or top middle speaker to play Dolby Atmos. However, when
SP:dB ON is selected, Dolby Atmos does not play.

With these connections you can simultaneously enjoy 7.2-channel surround sound in the main zone with stereo
playback on another component in HDZONE. (The selection of input devices is limited.)
This speaker layout/usage pattern provides 7.2-channel playback using the surround back channels in the main
zone.
You cannot playback Dolby Atmos with this system.
