ORBCOMM
An electrical connection for
communication with other
microprocessor-based de-
vices (such as powertrain
control, trip recorders and
maintenance systems) that
are compatible with the ATA
and SAE standard.
Global Positioning System: a
system that uses satellites to
provide users with GPS loca-
tion anywhere in the world.
Satellite communications
provider used for Volvo Link
system. Part of the Volvo Link
ECU may be referred to as
the ORBCOMM module, be-
cause it is the module
containing the satellite com-
munications circuitry.

PSID is a Volvo Proprietary
SID, or System Identifier. Note
that PSID's will only show a
numeric value in the graphic
display – no text description.
Volvo Link System. A satellite
communciation system inte-
grated into Volvo vehicles. It
includes the Volvo Link ECU,
GPS antenna and wiring har-
nesses. This system allows
communications between the
fleet (via Volvo's Web based
software) and the vehicle.
World Wide Web or Internet.
General definition is software
on the Internet, but in this
case, it refers to the Volvo
Link software, usually admin-
istered at a fleet's home base.
