Selecting the RX500 in Mac OS X

Open the OS X Applications folder,
then open the Utilities folder and
start Print Center or the Printer
Setup Utility.
Note: If you see a screen asking if
you'd like to add a printer, click Add.

On the next screen, select EPSON USB from the pull-down menu.

Click Stylus Photo RX500.
Note: If the RX500 doesn't appear,
make sure it is turned on and
securely connected to your
Macintosh.

Open the Page Setup menu
at the bottom of the screen and
select All.

Click the Add button. The Printer List
includes two entries for your printer.

Close Print Center or the Printer
Setup Utility.

Now start up your Macintosh in OS 9.x. Follow the instructions in the
previous column to install the OS 9.x drivers and optional software for
Macintosh Classic programs.

Open the Chooser from the Apple menu.

Select the SP RX500 Series icon, then
select your USB port and turn on
background printing.

Close the Chooser.
Now you're ready to copy, scan, and print.

Any Problems?

If the red
!
error light is on, check the messages on the RX500 LCD screen.
They give you guidance for solving problems.
If your problem is listed here, try these suggestions. For more information,
see your software Help, User's Guide, or your on-screen Reference Guide.
A New Hardware Wizard
appears on your screen.
You see an error
message when you
print or scan.
The RX500 doesn't
work.
Click Cancel and follow the steps in
section 8. Disconnect the RX500 before
installing the software.
Make sure your RX500 is connected to your
computer, plugged into a power source, and
turned on.
Try turning the printer off and then back on to
clear the error.
Unlock the printer by removing and storing the
orange plastic print head holder. See section 4.
Slide the transportation lock under the
lid to unlock the scanner. See section 2.
Make sure the ink cartridges are pushed
all the way down. See section 6.
Try connecting the USB cable to a different
USB port on your computer. See section 8.
If it still doesn't work, try reinstalling the
software. See section 8.
