The Step Sequencer can o nly be activated when the
Arp/ SEQ parameter (VO ICE ARPEG G IO / SEQ menu) is set
to " Step SEQ " .

Yo u can turn the Step Sequencer o n and o ff by pressing
the [ARPEG G IO / SEQ ] switch. W hen the Step Sequencer is
turned o n, " SEQ " will appear in the lo wer rig ht area o f the
L CD.
When Arp/ SEQ is set to " Arpeggio" , the various parameters in the SEQ
EDIT/ SETUP menu cannot be accessed.
Setting The Step Sequencer Tem po
Set the [EDIT RO T ARY] switch to VO ICE CO MMO N and
press T empo [UP/ DO W N ] to set the tempo o f the Step
Sequencer in BPM (Beats Per Minute).

If yo u want the clo ck o f an external MIDI sequencer o r drum
machine to co ntro l the AN 1 x's tempo , then set the T empo to
" MIDI" (the first value lo cated befo re " 4 0 " ), so that the two
devices will play in synchro nizatio n with each o ther.

setting , there are two additio nal Ho ld mo des.

W hen SEQ Ho ld is set to " o n" , " HO L D" will appear in
reverse type in the lo wer rig ht co rner o f the L CD. After
trig g ering the Step Sequencer by playing the keybo ard,
the sequence will co ntinue playing auto matically when yo u
release the key, until yo u switch the Ho ld setting to " o ff" ,
o r press [ARPEG G IO / SEQ ] to sto p the Step Sequencer.
W hen KbdMo de is set to " sel&no rm" o r " sel&shift" , two
additio nal SEQ Ho ld mo de setting s are available:
" mo de1 " , which trig g ers a pattern every time a key is
pressed, and " mo de2 " , which trig g ers a pattern after the
current sequence finishes, even if yo u press a key during
the middle o f the current sequence.
The SEQ Ho ld functio n, used in co njunctio n with L ayer
mo de and Keybo ard Mo de setting s, g reatly expands yo ur
live perfo rmance o ptio ns. It's also indispensable fo r
searching fo r Vo ice and User Patterns, as well as fo r
editing a pattern o r tweaking vario us to ne g enerato r
parameters fo r yo ur sequence so und with the CO N TRO L
kno bs.
