3. 2 | Basic Installation Procedure

1. Connect the LAN: You can connect t he Wireless Cable Modem Gat eway t o your PC, or t o a
hub or swit ch. Run Et hernet cable f rom one of t he LAN port s on t he rear of t he Wireless
Cable Modem Gat eway t o your comput er' s net work adapt er or t o anot her net work device.
You can also connect t he Wireless Cable Modem Gat eway t o your PC (using a wireless client
adapt er) via radio signals.
Note : It is recommended t hat f or f irst -t ime set up you use a wired connect ion.
2. Connect the WAN: Connect a coax cable t o t he CATV port on t he back of t he Wireless
Cable Modem Gat eway f rom a cable port locat ed in your home. When connect ing t o t he
CATV port , use only manuf act ured coaxial pat ch cables wit h F-t ype connect ors at bot h
ends f or all connect ions.
Note : If t his modem was NOT inst alled by t he cable service provider (ISP) or is being used
t o replace anot her cable modem – please cont act your Cable Operat or (ISP) t o regist er t he
SMC8013WG. Wit hout regist ering t he modem wit h your ISP it will be unable t o connect t o
t he cable net work syst em.
3. Power on: Connect t he power adapt er t o t he EZ Connect ™ Wireless Cable Modem Gat eway.
Warning : Only use t he power adapt er t hat was provided wit h t he EZ Connect ™ Wireless Cable
Modem Gat eway, using anot her power adapt er may damage your unit and void t he warrant y.
