The Prompt if... box is selected by default. Unless you deselect this box, Adaptec File Saver sends you a message whenever a file is over the size limit. If you deselect Prompt if..., Adaptec does not send you this message and the file is not backed up.
Changing Preferences In the Advanced Settings window, you can change the settings that control logging, backup delay, automatic delete, and file compression. To edit the settings on the Preferences tab: 1 Open the Advanced Settings window (see the Preferences tab. 2 Edit the settings as required.

On the Versions tab of the Advanced Settings window, you can change both these settings to suit your needs. For instance, you can set Adaptec File Saver to retain 10 versions of each backup file, or to create new versions each time you save a file instead of just once a day.

Restore a File to a New Location To restore the file to a new location: 1 Follow Steps page 5-9. 2 Select No, specify another location, then click Browse. 3 To restore to an existing folder, find the folder in the Browse For Folder dialog box, then click OK.
Restoring Older Backup Versions By default, when you restore a file, Adaptec File Saver restores the most current backup version of the file. You can restore older versions of a backup file, if required. You can restore any file to its original location, or you can restore it to a new location.
Properties on page 5-7 Searching for Similar File Names You can use Adaptec File Saver to find backup files with similar names. You might want to use this feature to find older versions of files that you have renamed, duplicate copies of backup files, or backup copies of files that you have moved.

Deleting Files If the Originals Are Deleted You can delete all versions of all backup files that do not have matching original files on your computer. Because Adaptec File Saver does the work of comparing your backup files with your original files, this is a time-efficient way of making storage space available for new backup files.
You might want to move or rename older versions of your backup files to keep them consistent with the originals. For instance, if you relocate or rename a file on your local drive, you can use Adaptec File Saver to change all backup versions of that file to the same name and location.
