phototransistor and an electronic switch (4) engages
and sets the engine speed limit to 3800 rpm.

The blue plug above the stop button closes the circuit to
OilGuard. To override the OilGuard function, remove the
blue plug with a screwdriver and replace it with an
orange plastic plug.

6.17.2 To examine the power supply for the
OilGuard
1. Remove the filter and cylinder cover.
2. Connect a multimeter to a ground point and the point
of measure. Measure at idle rpm. The voltage must
be 20–40 V AC.
