Driver Installation Under FreeBSD
A drive or unit managed by the 3ware RAID controller may be configured to
be your system's boot device. Or, you can use another device as your boot
device, such as a disk attached to the motherboard.
Obtaining 3ware FreeBSD Drivers
The 3ware software CD-ROM that came with the 3ware RAID controller
includes compiled and tested drivers for FreeBSD 5.4 only. To see if a more
recent driver is available, please see the 3ware web site at
http://www.3ware.com/support/index.asp.
Materials Required
3ware driver
The driver and the corresponding source files can be found on the 3ware
CD-ROM, at
/packages/drivers/freebsd/5.4/x86
or
/packages/drivers/freebsd/5.4/x86_64
depending on whether you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version of FreeBSD
5.4 (respectively).
The FreeBSD source is available at
/packages/drivers/freebsd/src/5.x
You can also download the FreeBSD driver from the 3ware web site
(http://www.3ware.com/support/index.asp).

Before installing the 3ware driver, you must have already
installed your 3ware RAID controller in the system. Consult the
