Chapter 6 – Controls

Steer Buttons

The steer buttons are used to adjust the direction of the
steer wheels from the lower controls.
Press and hold the top steer button to adjust the wheels
to steer to the left as indicated by the directional arrows
on the chassis. Press and hold the bottom steer button
to adjust the wheels to steer to the right as indicated by
the directional arrows on the chassis.

Riser Elevation Buttons

The riser elevation buttons are used to raise or lower the
riser boom.
Press and hold the right riser elevation button to raise the
riser boom. Press and hold the left riser elevation button
to lower the riser boom.

Boom Extension Buttons

The boom extension buttons are used to extend or retract
the booms.
Press and hold the right boom extension button to extend
the booms. Press and hold the left boom extension button
to retract the booms.

Boom Elevation Buttons

The boom elevation buttons are used to raise or lower
the main boom.
Press and hold the right boom elevation button to raise
the main boom. Press and hold the left boom elevation
button to lower the main boom.

Jib Elevation Buttons

The jib elevation buttons are used to raise or lower the jib.
Press and hold the right jib elevation button to raise the jib.
Press and hold the left jib elevation button to lower the jib.

Platform Level Buttons

The platform level buttons are used to level the platform
floor with respect to the ground.
Press and hold the right platform level button to tilt the
platform floor upward or away from the ground. Press
and hold the left platform level button to tilt the platform
floor downward or toward the ground.

Platform Rotate Buttons

The platform rotate buttons are used to rotate the platform
relative to the end of the tip boom.
Press and hold the right platform rotate button to rotate
the platform clockwise. Press and hold the left platform
rotate button to rotate the platform counterclockwise.

Rotation Buttons

The rotation buttons are used to rotate the turntable in a
clockwise or counterclockwise direction.
Press and hold the right rotation button to rotate the turn-
table clockwise. Press and hold the left rotation button to
rotate the turntable counterclockwise.

Upper Controls

The upper controls (refer to Figure 6.2) are located on the
control panel at the platform. Boom, platform, and drive
functions can be operated from the upper controls. The
following controls are located on the upper control panel.

• Emergency stop button

• Drive joystick
• Rotation handle
• Platform rotation handle
• Riser elevation handle
• Jib elevation handle
• Platform level handle
• Boom extension handle
• Boom elevation handle

Emergency Stop Button
The emergency stop is a two-position, red push button
on the top of the upper control panel (refer to Figure
6.3). Push the button in to disconnect power to all con-
trol circuits at the upper controls. Pull the button out to
restore power.
Note
The lower controls override the upper controls. If the up-
per control emergency stop button is engaged the lower
controls can still be used to operate the aerial platform.
