Using the ashtray

Fire Hazard due to
WARNING
Flammable Objects
Paper in the ashtray can catch fire.
e Do not put any flammable objects into the
ashtray.
Opening the ashtray
1. Press the ashtray lid briefly (Fig. 171, 1).
The lid opens automatically.
Emptying the ashtray
2. To release, press the ashtray insert upward
toward the right and front until it audibly disen-
gages (Fig. 171, 2 and 3).
3. Remove the ashtray insert upward.
4. After emptying, push in the ashtray insert and
press downward until it audibly engages.
Using the cigarette lighter

Hot Cigarette Lighter
WARNING
The glowing surface of the cigarette lighter is very
hot when in use.
e Do not leave children in the vehicle unattended.
e Never touch the heating element or the side
surfaces of the cigarette lighter.
e Hold the hot cigarette lighter only by the
operating button.
1. Press briefly on the ashtray lid (Fig. 172, arrow).

2. Press the operating button into the socket.
When the spiral is glowing, the cigarette lighter
pops back to its initial position.
3. Remove the cigarette lighter.

Danger of Fire due to the

Disposal of Burning
Cigars or Cigarettes
Cigarettes or cigars can be blown into the air inlets by
the air flow and cause a fire in the engine compart-
ment.
e Do not throw burning cigarettes or cigars out of
the vehicle.
