    Jumpers and Connectors Connectors on the SIMB-982 motherboard link it to devices such as hard disk drives and a keyboard. In addition, the board has a number of jumpers used to configure your system for your application. The tables below list the function of each of the board jumpers and connectors. Later sections in this chapter give instructions on setting jumpers.

    1.8.2 CMOS Clear (JCMOS1) The SIMB-982 motherboard contains a jumper that can erase CMOS data and reset the system BIOS information. Normally this jumper should be set with pins 1-2 closed. If you want to reset the CMOS data, set CMOS1 to 2-3 closed for just a few seconds, and then move the jumper back to 1-2 closed.

    1.8.7 Watchdog timer output (JWDT1) The SIMB-982 contains a watchdog timer that will reset the CPU. This feature means the SIMB-982 will recover from a software failure or an EMI problem. The JWDT1 jumper settings control the outcome of what the computer will do in the event the watchdog timer is tripped.

    System Memory SIMB-982 has two 288-pin memory sockets for DDR4 1866/2133 MHz memory mod- ules with maximum capacity of 32 GB (Maximum 16 GB for each DIMM). SIMB-982 only supports non-ECC DDR4 memory modules. Please note that SIMB-982 does NOT support registered DIMMs (RDIMMs).

    USB Ports (LAN12/LAN3_USB910/USB3_1234 /USB3_56/USB1112/USB1314) SIMB-982 provides up to nine USB ports for H110 sku and thirteen USB ports for Q170 Sku. The USB interface complies with USB Specifi-cation Rev. 2.0 and Rev. 3.0 supporting transmission rates up to 625 Mbps and is fuse protected. The USB interface can be disabled in the system BIOS setup.

  • Page 20 COM1 COM7~10 DVI-D1 SIMB-982 includes COM and DVI interfaces that can drive conventional COM and DVI-D displays. COM2 is a standard 9-pin connector support RS-232. Pin assignments for COM2 and DVI connectors are detailed in Appendix A. SIMB-982 supports 10 serial ports. COM1 supports RS-232/422/485 function and RI/12V/5V switching by jumper selection.
