2.4 Serial Ports and DVI-D Connector

COM1
SIMB-982 includes COM and DVI interfaces that can drive conventional COM and
DVI-D displays. COM2 is a standard 9-pin connector support RS-232. Pin
assignments for COM2 and DVI connectors are detailed in Appendix A.
SIMB-982 supports 10 serial ports. COM1 supports RS-232/422/485 function and
RI/12V/5V switching by jumper selection. COM2 supports RS-232 function and
RI/12V/5V switching by jumper selection. COM3~10 supports RS-232.
The IRQ and address ranges for both ports are fixed. However, if you want to disable
the port or change these parameters later, you can do this in the system BIOS setup.
Different devices implement the RS-232 standards in different ways. If you have
problems with a serial device, be sure to check the pin assignments for the connec-
tor.
