3. Example of protocol
The signals shaded in the following figure are the most important signals in the procedure.
- Late start
The receiver cannot detect the CM signal while it is sending the ANSam signal. Therefore, it
sends the DIS signal to inform the availability of V.8 support. The transmitter sends the CI signal
that causes the receiver to send another ANSam signal which makes the receiver move to the
V.8 procedure.
