Assigning the device name

The following options are available for configuring or assigning the device name:
•
Automatic commissioning through the Topology Editor
•
Manual device name assignment in the hardware configuration
•
Compact Flash Card of the Control Unit
This application example describes the automatic commissioning process with the
Topology Editor and manual assignment of the device name.
2.5.1

Automatic assignment of the device name with topology configuration

Requirements for automatic device name assignment
•
PROFINET controller (410-5H CPU) and G120X are configured in the
hardware configuration.
•
"Support device replacement without exchangeable medium" must be enabled
in the PROFINET IO controller.
•
The drive system must be reset to factory settings before initial use / device
replacement
During automatic commissioning, the device is assigned by specifying a target
topology in the Topology Editor. The target topology is configured offline according
to the actual topology of your plant and then uploaded to the CPU.
Using the specified target topology, the controllers identifies the IO devices via
proximity relationships and assigns them the configured device name accordingly.
Procedure
1. Check whether the box "Support device replacement without exchangeable
medium" is ticked.
To do this, open the object properties of the CPU interface to which the
SINAMICS G120X drive system is connected (in this application example:
"Interface X5"). Switch to the "General" tab. Enable the option if needed.
