Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.
Prepare the computer for disassembly
2.
Place the computer in Battery Safe mode
3.
Remove the bottom cover
4.
Remove the battery
Remove the heat sink:
1.
To remove the heat sink on models with discrete graphics memory:
a.
In the order indicated on the heat sink, loosen the six captive Phillips screws (1) that secure the
heat sink to the system board.
b.
Lift the heat sink from the system board (2), and then pull the heat sink away from the side of the
chassis to remove it (3).
