The DGS Series Electric Infrared Heater is a filtered short-wave unit containing one or two gold-
filtered red lamps. All persons involved with the installation, operation, and maintenance of the heater
system must read and understand the information in this manual.
Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service, or maintenance can cause
property damage, injury, or death. Read and understand the installation, operating,
and maintenance instructions thoroughly before installing or servicing this
equipment.

    Installation • Design Series Installation WARNING Read and understand the installation, operating, and maintenance instructions thoroughly before installing or servicing this equipment. Design To ensure a safe, properly designed heating system, a layout should be developed for the correct placement of the infrared heater(s). Aside from safety factors such as clearances to combustibles (see Chart 1.1 on page 6), consideration should also be given to factors such as the environment (e.g., cold/drafty, average, protected), heat coverage (sq.

    Installation • Heater Installation • Field Wiring Series Heater Installation The mounting bracket, electrical cord (120 V models only), and screws required to install this heater are provided with the unit. To install the unit: Determine the area where the heater is to be mounted. Clearances to combustibles must be maintained at all times and should be taken into careful consideration when determining the mounting location of the heater.

    Maintenance Series Maintenance It is recommended that the following become a standard yearly procedure to obtain maximum operating efficiency and trouble free operation. During long periods of non-usage, remove or cover heater with a polyethylene bag and disconnect from power supply. If further service to the heater is desired, contact your representative or the factory.

    Repair cost is $65.00 and includes return shipping and handling costs. Units can be returned COD via UPS (additional fees for COD service will apply). When sending a heater to Detroit Radiant Products for repair, include a packing list with an explanation of the heater’s symptoms and contact information for a contact who can provide valid credit card or payment information.
