This heater must be installed and serviced by a Gas Safe Registered Gas Engineer
only! Conversion of the heater for use with other gases must be carried out by a Gas
Safe Registered Gas Engineer. Read these instructions carefully before attempting to
install, operate, or service the heater.
Storage of petrol and other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any
other appliance may result in fire or explosion. Do not store or use petrol or other
flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. Maintain
clearances to combustibles at all times.
This heater is not approved for use in indoor residential applications and must
never be install indoor in the home. This heater may only be used in outdoor residential
applications or indoor/outdoor commercial or industrial applications. Installation in
residential indoor spaces may result in property damage, asphyxiation, serious injury,
or death.
Failure to comply with these warnings and instructions, and those on the heater, could
result in personal injury or death.

These distances are shown in Chart 2.1 and on the heater. If you are unsure of the potential hazards, consult your local fire marshal, fire insurance carrier, or other qualified authorities on the installation of gas fired infrared heaters for approval of the proposed installation.

Always observe applicable state and local codes. Standards, Certifications, and Governmental Regulations Infrared heaters are designed and certified for use in industrial and commercial buildings such as outdoor restaurant patios, warehouses, manufacturing plants, aircraft hangars, and vehicle maintenance shops.

Notwithstanding their limited scope, this appliance must be installed in accordance with the relevant provisions of the following regulations: United Kingdom Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1984 and BS 6896:2005.

    DSCS-9/10 Series Installation • Design Installation Design Re-Verber-Ray Designer Series patio heaters are designed specifically for comfort heating in an outdoor ® environment. Examples of suitable applications include patios, porches, outdoor shopping areas, and outdoor pathways. When used properly, the heater will increase the comfort level of its application. However, the effectiveness of the heating will depend on many variables such as air temperature, wind velocity, wind barriers, mounting heights, and distance between heaters.

If necessary, weld blocks to mounting structure, drill holes, etc. Fasten beam clamp, screw hook, or other type of suspension anchor to hanging point. Attach threaded rod and turnbuckle to anchor.

    DSCS-9/10 Series Installation • Gas Supply Gas Supply The gas supply to the infrared patio heater must be connected and tested in accordance with national, state, provincial, and local codes along with the guidelines in the manual. WARNING Improperly connected gas lines may result in fire, explosion, poisonous fumes, toxic gases, asphyxiation, and death.
  • Page 16 DSCS-9/10 Series Installation • Gas Supply • Gas Connection Install a ground joint union with a brass seat and a manual shut-off valve adjacent to the unit for emergency shut-off and easy servicing of the controls. A 1/8” NPT plugged tap that is accessible for a test gauge connection is also recommended as illustrated in Figures 3.4 and 3.5.

The trap length shall be at least three inches long. Ideally, the trap would be installed as close as possible to the shut off.

Leak testing solution must be non-corrosive and be rinsed off immediately after the leak test. Never test for leaks with an open flame. Failure to comply could result in personal injury, property damage, or death.

Electrical shock or explosion may occur when conducting maintenance while the heater is connected to the power source and gas supply. Disconnect power and gas supply to heater before servicing. Burner malfunction may result in explosion or fire.
