Chapter 3: Propulsion & Related Systems
Fuel Fill & Vent Fittings
• The fuel fill deck fittings are marked "GAS" or "DIESEL".
• The fuel tank vent thru-hull fittings are normally located below the fuel fill deck fittings.
• If you experience difficulty filling either fuel tank, see if the fuel fill hose or fuel tank vent hose is kinked
or collapsed.
• If there are no visible signs of a problem, contact your local dealer.
Anti-siphon Valves (Gas Engines Only)
• If an engine running problem is diagnosed as fuel starvation, check the anti-siphon valve. If
the valve is stuck or clogged, change or replace it while the engines are shut down.
• NEVER run either engines with its anti-siphon valve removed, except in an emergency.
• Your boat may be equipped with anti-siphon valves, which are integral parts of the fuel system.
• Each valve is located at the point where the fuel feed lines attach to the fuel tank.
• The valves are spring loaded and are opened by fuel pump vacuum.
• These valves will prevent fuel from siphoning from the tank in the event of a fuel line rupture.
Fuel Filters
• The fuel pickup tubes (located inside the fuel tank) are equipped with fine mesh screen filters.
• Also, when supplied by the engine manufacturer, a fuel filter is installed on each engine.
• Periodically replace the fuel filters to make sure they remain clean and free of debris.
• Consult with your selling dealer or local marina concerning fuel additives that help to prevent fungus or other
buildup in your fuel tank.
